Offshore can refer to a variety of foreign companies or accounts. To be considered offshore companies, accounts or companies must be established in a country other than the client`s or investor`s country of origin. Many countries, territories and jurisdictions have offshore financial centres (OFCs). These include well-known centres such as Switzerland, Bermuda and the Cayman Islands and lesser-known centres such as Mauritius, Dublin and Belize. The level of regulatory standards and transparency varies considerably from country to country. Several European network operators have proposed to build at least ten artificial „energy islands“ in the North Sea in order to use large offshore wind to meet the continent`s climate targets. According to the North Sea Wind Power Hub (NSWPH), a possible cross-border offshore network project between Denmark, the Netherlands and Germany could play an important role in the energy development of countries. By eliminating the needs of some substations at sea, the islands could significantly reduce the costs of offshore wind turbines. Deutsche Windtechnik specialises in the technical maintenance of wind turbines. More than 1,800 employees ensure that wind turbines operate 24 hours a day and reliably, on-site and at home, across Europe, in Taiwan and the United States. Whether it`s a wind turbine, an ignition unit, a gondola, a rotor or a foundation, from large components to the substation to the smallest electronic parts, you`ll find the right experts for your wind turbine and wind farm.

Companies with large sales abroad, such as Apple Inc. and Microsoft Corp., can take the opportunity to keep the associated profits on offshore accounts in countries with lower tax pressure. In 2018, more than $3 trillion in foreign profits were estimated at more than 300 U.S. companies. Siemens Gamesa, Germany`s largest turbine manufacturer, was born out of a merger of the german industrial heavyweight Siemens` wind division with Spanish turbine manufacturer Gamesa. It commissioned a total of 6.8 GW in 2017, or 15% of global production. According to Bloomberg New Energy Finance (BNEF), the company is the second largest manufacturer of turbines, which are surpassed only by Danish vestas. However, if only offshore turbines are taken into account, Siemens Gamesa leads by far. The merged entity commissioned 2.7 GW of offshore turbines in 2017, and vestas, senvion and Chinese Sewind followed with about 0.5 GW each, according to BNEF.

The expansion of the technology will therefore be mainly in the North Sea, where other projects from the United Kingdom, Denmark, the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany have jointly created the world`s largest offshore wind energy cluster. The vast majority of German offshore turbines are in the North Sea, with about 1,230 watering off the west coast of Germany, compared to just over 230 in the Baltic Sea to the east. Wind yields are on average much higher in the North Sea than in the Baltic Sea and attract investors with higher yields. Offshore investments may include any situation in which offshore investors reside outside the country in which they invest. This practice is mainly used by wealthy investors, as the operating costs of offshore accounts can be remarkable. Offshore investments may require the creation of accounts in the country where the investor wants to invest. Benefits include tax benefits, asset protection and privacy. Offshore Wind`s share of Germany`s electricity production package exceeded 4% in 2019, a significant increase of just 0.1% in 2014, making it the country`s fastest growing renewable energy source.
